YEREVAN. – Hraparak newspaper of Armenia writes: After searching the house of [ex-MP and] former president Ruben Hayrapetyan of the Football Federation of Armenia, the ring around him is being tightened.
The authorities are trying their best to make a case against him, and they intend to use even those convicted in the Harsnaqar case. According to our source, one or two of the six people convicted of the murder of Vahe Avetyan in Harsnaqar [restaurant belonging to Hayrapetyan] may soon be released early in exchange for testimony against Hayrapetyan.
It should be reminded that military doctor Vahe Avetyan died as a result of beatings by the Harsnaqar security personnel on June 17, 2012. In 2014, the court gave 12 years [in prison] to six restaurant security officers who have already served half of the sentence, and the law allows for their release, which will happen if they agree to testify against their former boss, Ruben Hayrapetyan.
