YEREVAN. – Armenia’s former MP and businessman Aleksan (Alik) Petrosyan's lawyer Mihran Poghosyan has submitted a petition to Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan with a request to commute Petrosyan's current pretrial measure of arrest. Poghosyan told about this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

"Because Alik Petrosyan was in fact deprived of the opportunity to appeal the pretrial measure imposed on him," the lawyer added, in particular. "Now the investigation phase is over, now we are petitioning for his release. We ask the Prosecutor General not to pay tribute to the Special Investigation Service's positions and make an objective decision."

As reported earlier, Aleksan Petrosyan was arrested in connection with a criminal case filed against former Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan. His son, Makar Petrosyan, was also arrested, but was released some time later.

Aleksan Petrosyan is accused of assisting in money laundering.

The Special Investigation Service, however, makes no comment on the case of Aleksan Petrosyan and his son.
