A difficult situation arose in Armenia due to fires, Major General Vrezh Gabrielyan told reporters on Wednesday.

According to him, due to weather anomalies and warm weather, in early December in Armenia there was a difficult situation due to fires in the wooded and grassy areas.

He noted that the vast majority of fires occurred on grassy and wooded areas - 64.6%. The director of the rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also complained that the responsible people who were supposed to control the situation on the ground did not fulfill their immediate duties, and because of their negligent attitude, such a difficult situation arose in the republic over the past month.

However, despite criticism, the Major General assured that the Ministry of Emergency Situations is taking all necessary measures to solve the problem. He noted that extinguishing fires is often complicated due to difficult weather conditions.
