YEREVAN. – Representatives of the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia visited Armen Tavadyan, the owner of 5th Channel TV, at the Police detention center; at night, a call was received about a search of his apartment
On December 25, at about 12:30am, a search was conducted in Tavadyan's apartment and the Human Rights Defender's staff also left for the scene, the Ombudsman’s Office informed.
The Ombudsman's Office received the lawyer's report regarding a search conducted in his client's apartment. According to the lawyer, the apartment is owned by Armen Tavadyan, who is the owner of 5th Channel TV.
The Human Rights Defender's representatives are at the Police detention center for a private conversation with Tavadyan.
During the visit the conditions of his detention and the state of securing his rights will be checked.
Representatives of the Human Rights Defender are also in touch with Tavadyan's lawyers.
A note will be sent to the criminal prosecution on these issues.
