YEREVAN. – A complaint was filed against the decision to detain Armen Tavadyan, the owner of 5th Channel TV of Armenia, in court. Tavadyan's lawyer Hovhannes Khudoyan told about this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He said that Tavadyan's detention was unlawful, and they hoped the respective verdict would be made within 20 hours.

Armen Tavadyan was detained yesterday, and according to police, along the lines of the criminal case involving Varuzhan Mkrtchyan, a supporter of second President Robert Kocharyan.

Mkrtchyan has been charged under the Criminal Code article on bribery of a witness or a victim for false testimony, and by an organized group. Tavadyan was detained in connection with the same criminal case, and on suspicion of committing a criminal offense under the same article.

As reported earlier, Varuzhan Mkrtchyan, who, according to a video released by police on December 19, had proposed an injured party of the March 1 case to refuse the testimony given, and in exchange for money and, later, a position.
