YEREVAN. – A convict has died in a prison in Armenia.

On December 26, at around 12:05am, an ambulance was called to Armavir Penitentiary because of the deteriorating health condition of convict Artur Karapetyan (born in 1988, previously convicted 5 times).

At around 12։20am, Karapetyan was taken to Vagharshapat town hospital where he was pronounced dead, the Penitentiary Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Initial diagnosis is cardiac arrest.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death of the inmate.

A forensic medical examination has been appointed.
