The Council for Juvenile Justice, which carries out its activities through cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of Armenia and the United Nations Children’s Fund, today held its year-end session chaired by Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Suren Krmoyan and Head of the Department of Development of Anti-Corruption and Penitentiary Policies at the Ministry of Justice Arpine Sargsyan.
Greeting the attendees, Suren Krmoyan stated that the maintenance of the best interest of the child also underlies the discussions that are held and the decisions that are made in any format within the state apparatus.
Head of the Department of Development of Anti-Corruption and Penitentiary Policies at the Ministry of Justice Arpine Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the attendees for their participation, stated the Action Plan for the Fight against Violence against Children as a result of the Council’s activities in 2019 and recorded that certain actions of the Action Plan have already been incorporated in the National Strategy on Human Rights Protection approved during the government’s session.
Afterwards, the attendees discussed the recommendations on the provisions related to children’s rights in the drafts of the new Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes of Armenia and presented the benchmarks for Child-Centered Legal Aid of the United Nations Children’s Fund.
