BAKU. - A criminal case has been launched against Azerbaijani army’s sergeant Anar Hajiyev, who has recently been handed over to the Azerbaijani side by Armenia.
Anar Hajiyev is accused under the article #274 (State betray) of the Criminal Code, APA agency reports.
Speaking about the meeting with Hajiyev at detention cell of the Ministry of National Security, Chief of Azerbaijani Committee against Torture Elchin Behbudov said that detention conditions and attitude towards him were not bad. “Anar Hajiyev feels guilty. He regretted that he had committed it. He has been provided with a lawyer. Two more persons have been detained there too. They also do not complaint about their detention conditions. Each of them has been provided with medicines and other necessary means,” he said.
It is noteworthy war prisoners refuse to return to Azerbaijan as criminal charges will be instituted against them if they return to the country.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, during the March 17 press conference, Spokesman for Armenian Defense Ministry David Karapetyan said that Azerbaijani prisoner of war Roman Huseynov refuses to return to Azerbaijan. The Armenian side will transfer the Azeri war prisoner when he is psychologically ready to return to his country.
