Taking into consideration the great attention of the public, the Special Investigation Service of Armenia must immediately promulgate the grounds for the decision on engaging the President of the Constitutional Court as an accused-on-trial. This is what Head of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Office Artur Sakunts wrote on his Facebook page.

He particularly stated the following: “We need to know specifically which official powers were misused.

If misuse concerns the powers of a judge of the Constitutional Court, this charge can’t be brought against without the consent of the Constitutional Court.

If it concerns misuse of previous powers of Hrayr Tovmasyan before being elected judge of the Constitutional Court, the period in which he worked as deputy of the National Assembly, chair of a committee of the National Assembly, chief of staff of the National Assembly and justice minister, then this will be a totally different situation.”
