YEREVAN. - Armenia will produce organic fertilizers, said Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

Speaking in National Assembly, Sargsyan said providing villagers with organic fertilizers is priority of the Armenian government.

“Every year we import fertilizers from different countries. This year we have decided to launch production of organic fertilizers which will differ from niter usually used by the villagers. Armenian fertilizer will not damage soil but will improve it,” he said.

Prime minister also stressed the country may get international grants.     

The government has already ordered certain amount of fertilizers from the Armenian producers.

“Armenian fertilizer will be 30% cheaper than the imported one,” Prime Minister Sargsyan assured.

This year local producers will meet 50% of domestic demand, while 100% in 2012.
