Over 80 Armenian citizens stuck on the Russian-Georgian border, near Upper Lars checkpoint, Interfax South reports.
Several buses, mini buses and vehicles were trapped near the checkpoint which has been closed for several days due to heavy avalanches in the mountains.

The Upper Lars is the only Armenia’s overland commercial rout to Russia. It was reopened after three years’ break on March 1, 2010 under the mediation of Swiss Embassy. Around 7,000 people, 50 buses and 500 vehicles cross the checkpoint every day.
