YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily of Armenia writes: The issue of getting rid of Hrayr Tovmasyan—the president of the Constitutional Court [(CC)]—as soon as possible remains the number one agenda of the authorities.
According to Zhoghovurd daily’s information, yesterday’s sitting of the [majority] My Step faction in the NA [National Assembly] at the CCP [ruling Civil Contract party] office lasted about 4 hours. This question was one of the main issues during that closed session.
And the issue is that, as a legal way, in fact, there is only one left: to arrest Hrayr within the framework of the criminal case initiated, after which it will only be possible to dissolve the CC and assemble a new staff.
Achieving the settlement of the matter through constitutional amendments is also on the agenda, but this assumes a long process, whereas the authorities do not want to wait that long.
