YEREVAN. - Azerbaijani delegation tried to hold a PR action of several topics despite issues regarding Armenia and Azerbaijan were not on the agenda of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Among them were an alleged “killing of an Azerbaijani boy by Armenian snipers”, Stepanakert airport and alleged torture of the Azerbaijani captives by Armenians. However, the Armenian delegation gave adequate response to lies of Azerbaijani colleagues.

“During discussion of alleged killing of an Azerbaijani boy I showed the map proving that Armenian snipers were not able to take aim from that place,” said Naira Zohrabyan, MP from Prosperous Armenia Party.

She also asked European Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg about Azerbaijani threats to shoot down civil aircrafts trying to land at the Stepanakert airport.

“I asked directly whether he is concerned over Azerbaijan’s threats and Hammarberg said he is,” she said.

Naira Zohrabyan also proposed to set up a monitoring group to study state of the Armenian cemeteries in Old Jugha and Nakhchivan. However, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu who is also chairman of European Council’s Committee of Ministers, said he is unaware of the destroyed Armenian cultural heritage.

“Therefore I handed him documentaries and books, while Davutoglu promised to study them thoroughly,” she added.
