YEREVAN. – Stepanakert airport was not discussed at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), despite attempts of the Azerbaijani delegation.
Head of the Armenian delegation to PACE Davit Harutunyan said at a press conference on Monday that the issue will not be included in the agenda of the next PACE session as well.
Opening of Stapanakert airport made a fuss in Azerbaijan. In particular leadership of the Azerbaijani civil aviation department announced its intention to shoot down aircrafts heading to the airport. Such statements caused discontent of the international agencies. Asked about Azerbaijan’s statements, Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg said he is concerned about these threats.
