YEREVAN. - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan held a meeting on Monday with Russian Minister of Regional Development Viktor Basargin.
Minister Basargin is taking part in the 1st Armenian-Russian interregional forum in Yerevan. The Armenian presidential press office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that President Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of the forum. The Armenian leader hopes it will be serious impetus to the development of bilateral relations. The Armenian leader attaches importance to the Armenian community’s potential in developing Armenian-Russian regional cooperation.
Minister Basargin stressed the importance of regional cooperation for Armenian-Russian strategic relations. The relevant negotiations and agreements are a great achievement, he said.
The Armenian president has contributed to Armenian-Russian cooperation.
“You have recently visited a number of Russian regions, where we see great potential for economic and humanitarian development. Over 70 federal subjects of Russia are, directly or through mediators, cooperating with Armenia,” Basargin said.
