The US has expanded tariffs for steel and aluminum imports from other countries.

New tariffs do not apply only to steel products from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Mexico and South Korea.

The US President Donald Trump back in 2018 imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from all countries. The White House substantiated the decision at the end of January 2019 to expand the tariffs by the fact that manufacturers in other countries allegedly circumvent the introduced tariffs, supplying to the US more of those types of steel and aluminum products that are not included in the restrictive lists.

Trump is unhappy that the US foreign trade balance has been in a big minus for many years. According to him, this is a consequence of the policies of other nations, which resort to dishonest methods to promote their exports. The US leader is putting pressure on major trading partners, pushing them to increase US imports.
