YEREVAN. – Jon Farkhoyan former Head of the Yerevan Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, has been released on bail, the National Security Service (NSS) today informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The NSS had petitioned to the court with a request to arrest Farkhoyan.

According to information Armenian News-NEWS.am has ascertained, Farkhoyan was earlier detained as part of the indictment against Vahagn Vermishyan, Chairman of the Urban Development Committee.

As reported earlier, the court has granted the investigator's motion to arrest Vermishyan.

Within the framework of a criminal case initiated by the NSS into taking large-scale bribe, the crime suspects were apprehended, two of them—including the chairman of the aforementioned committee—were detained.

Moreover, while being questioned as a suspect, this bribe-taking official confessed to committing the crime.

The investigation is still in progress.
