With its new members, the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption has been around for the past two months, and its activities are based on the principles of ensuring innovative approaches, transparency and accountability.
The Commission is developing a concept paper and organizing a public discussion to develop a strategy for the Commission, and more than 70 government agencies, as well as organizations and individuals have sent proposals.
New samples of declarations arising from the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On public services”, approved upon the decision of the Government of Armenia of January 30, 2020, have been developed and will help improve the mechanism for gathering data regarding assets, incomes and interests and recording potential violations.
The Commission has also considered eight applications regarding violation of the rules of conduct of officials, incompatibility requirements and incomplete declarations and instituted two proceedings, including proceedings based on press releases.
The Commission has submitted an opinion on the amendments to several laws that are mainly related to the Commission’s activities; established cooperation with state institutions, civil society representatives and international organizations and is engaged in the task force of the Open Government Partnership through which it will promote the transparency of its activities.
The Commission expresses its willingness to collaborate with those who consider the fight against corruption primary and have subject-oriented proposals, including innovative approaches and methodologies to extirpate corruption from Armenian society.
