YEREVAN. – Yerevan residents are concerned over dust in the capital since the early morning, causing difficulty in respiration, Armenian State Hydrometeorological and Monitoring Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Gagik Surenyan, Head of the Forecast Department said the dust in Yerevan is conditioned by intensive flow of tropical hot air currents into Armenia from Middle East deserts.

“Desert dust moved to the territory of Armenia,” he said.

Baghdasar Sngryan, Director of Environmental Impact Monitoring Centre, said the dust is due to shifting winds from Syria and Iraq. According to him, there is no need for concern.

Sngryan refuted rumors that the dust cloud is due to radioactive dust from Japan’s crippled Fukushima nuclear complex.
