YEREVAN. - There is no point in seeking political implications in U.S. decision to suspend Millennium Challenges project in Armenia, Head of Heritage parliamentary faction Stepan  Safaryan tod Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He stressed that the Millennium Challenge program in Armenia was suspended as the country failed to cope with proposed reforms. “The main reason for termination of the program in Armenia is that the Armenian leadership failed to tackle corruption and shadow, which were basic requirements of the U.S. Government. In this regard, Washington was absolutely right not to trust its funds in Armenia, fearing that under conditions of high corruption and shadow they will be used for other purposes,” Safaryan noted.

Earlier, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch said that the United States will suspend aiding the Millennium Challenges Corporation (MCC) projects in Armenia because of inefficient financial management.
