YEREVAN. - Head of the Hay Dat office for political affairs, Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D), Giro Manoyan is skeptical about the possibility of U.S. President Barack Obama saying the word “genocide” during his annual address to the Armenian people.

Obama is unlikely to say the word “genocide” at least for the reason that official Yerevan is not exerting pressure on him. On the other hand, official Anraka’s representatives have been in Washington for a week carrying out the necessary work to prevent the U.S. president from saying the word “genocide”, Manoyan said. Moreover, the Armenian-Turkish protocols on Armenia’s political agenda are one more factor contributing to President Obama not fulfilling his election pledge.

“The Armenian-Turkish protocols and official Yerevan’s tolerance to reconciliation with Ankara have kept Obama from fulfilling his election pledges given to the Armenian people,” Manoyan said.

The U.S. president has another chance to rehabilitate himself before the Armenian voters prior to the next presidential election.

“Obama may say the word ‘genocide’ next year,” Manoyan said.

The Armenian community is greatly disappointed with Barack Obama – not only over the Armenian Genocide recognition issue, but also over Nagorno-Karabakh, he said. Representatives of official Washington have until now refused to have contact with the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities, obeying the Obama Administration’s will.
