YEREVAN. - A significant progress has been achieved in raising international awareness and recognition of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in the early 20th century, member of the “Prosperous Armenia” Party Naira Zohrabyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“This is to some extent due to attempts to switch Armenian-Turkish relations onto a normal truck. The Turkish society began to talk more about the Armenian Genocide, and if we look through media mainstream, it is evident that the international community talked more about the Armenian Genocide last year than during previous years,” she emphasized.

The MP found it difficult to answer whether Armenia will achieve in international recognition of the Armenian Genocide till its 100th anniversary. “The activities on recognition of the Armenian Genocide at international agencies are underway. However, we must also realize that those states that do not recognize the Armenian Genocide, fail to do it because they do not believe and it does not meet their political interests,” she stressed.
