Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan addressed a statement on the Armenian Remembrance Day.

April 24, 2011, is the 96th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The monstrous crime masterminded and perpetrated by the authorities of Ottoman Turkey was aimed at annihilating Armenians and, consequently, depriving the Armenians of their homeland, putting an end to their physical, historical, spiritual and cultural existence in their own motherland, the statement says.

The Armenian Genocide is not only a chapter in the Armenia history, but also a fact of the world history, which can by no means be erased from diplomatic documents and from the chronology of the 20th century, as even from the memory of the people whose fathers committed the genocide, says the statement.

The Armenian people’s demand is clear: the Armenian Genocide must receive a legal, political and moral assessment.

“I express my gratitude to the people and nations that are supporting the Armenian people in the common struggle for historical justice, prevention and condemnation of genocides.

“Remembering the innocent martyrs of the great disaster, let us turn our eyes toward our nationhood and better future of the Armenian people,” the Premier’s statement says.
