The Middle East and Caucasus are priority regions for the world. However, the fact of Muslim Turkey posing as a democratic state creates numerous problems in terms of conflict between Islam and democracy, Prof. Vladimir Gutorov, Head of Chair of Theory and Philosophy of Politics, Saint Petersburg University, said at an international conference on Armenian-Turkish relations.

Armenia is a country of European type, which makes many of the European nations support the Armenian side`s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and on the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. On the other hand, Ankara is supportive of Azerbaijan`s position.
