YEREVAN. - This year, Armenia is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its independence, and celebrations will be held round the year, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told journalists.

May, a month of the Armenian people’s victories and achievements, is nearing. “In May, we celebrate the Republic Day, a holiday full of lessons. We can draw the conclusion that splits have never produced good results or ensure the country’s further development. We must be able to control anger, because anger impedes resolution of problems. We have strong authorities and Opposition, and the latter does not allow the former to relax vigilance. And we can ensure progress in our country through cooperation. We are ready to become pioneers and take steps to relax the situation. I have issued necessary orders to the minister of justice,” President Sargsyan said.

The Armenian leader also stressed the importance of facilitating the formation of civil society. As few discontent people as possible is any leader’s aim, Sargsyan said.
