YEREVAN. - A rally of the oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) kicked off in the center of Armenian capital at 6:25 p.m. local time on Thursday.

It is the first opposition rally authorized by the authorities in Liberty Square after three year’s break.

First President of Armenia and ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan, head of People’s Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchyan, chairman of Republic party’s political council Aram Sargsyan, and heads of other parties, members of the opposition bloc, are on the platform, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reported.

Addressing the participants Aram Manukyan, chairman of the Armenian National Movement, stressed access to Liberty Square for ANC supporters is the first big victory which will be followed by new ones in the near future.

The Armenian National Congress is an oppositional union founded in 2008 and leaded by first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Oppositional union comprises 17 political parties.

Earlier this week Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said Armenia’s extra-parliamentary Opposition is showing positive tendencies.
