YEREVAN. – The Armenian National Congress refuted media reports on talks between the Armenian authorities and the ANC through the mediation of U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch.

“Such rumors are nothing but nonsense,” ANC Spokesman Arman Musinyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to Armenian mass media, authorities have begun negotiations with the ANC through U.S. Ambassador’s mediation. According to the reached agreement, the ANC has presented its demands to the authorities and the country’s leadership will fulfill them until May 2011. The ANC has already announced that the authorities fulfilled its two demands, particularly they gave new impetus to investigation into March 1 events and were allowed to hold rallies in Liberty Square. Its third demand is on release of prisoners on March 1 events.

However, recently President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said that he had instructed Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyanu to take adequate measures to ease tension in domestic political situation in the country.
