YEREVAN. - Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Tina Kaidanow met with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and top officials during her visit to Armenia on April 28-29.
The sides discussed issues related to bilateral U.S.-Armenia relations, regional and economic problems, as well as issues regarding democracy building and human rights protection, U.S. embassy press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The U.S. official stressed importance of protection rights for freedom of assembly and freedom of speech, and encouraged to step up efforts aimed at ensuring pluralism in media.
As regards economic issues, Tina Kaidanow noted importance of free economic competition for all business entities, including American companies which will stimulate economic development in Armenia.
She also held a meeting with businesswomen and activists of social movements praising their efforts.
