YEREVAN. Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hovik Abrahamyan left for Brussels on May 2 at the invitation of President of European Parliament Jerzy Buzek.
At the meeting with the President of European Parliament, the Armenian Speaker stressed that integration into European agencies is one of Armenia’s foreign policy priorities. He attached significance to the Retraining program between the Armenian National Assembly and European Parliament.
Abrahamyan expressed confidence that Jerzy Buzek’s visit to Armenia scheduled for May 18 will give new impetus to improvement of bilateral relations.
In his turn, President of the European Parliament emphasized the progress in democracy strengthening in Armenia, adding the EU is interested in deepening cooperation with Armenia. He also stressed the necessity of intensification of economic cooperation and implementation of investment programs.
Abrahamyan will attend the inaugural meeting of Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels today. Speakers of “Eastern Partnership” member states will participate in the meeting, the press service of the Armenian National Assembly inforedm Armenian News-NEWS.am.
