All restrictions regarding size and passenger traffic of vehicles have been removed at Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border.

Restrictions imposed due to bad weather conditions were also lifted starting from May 7, Armenia’s Transport and Communication Ministry informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Traffic on roads leading to the border was blocked on April 12 due to bad weather conditions.

The Upper Lars is the only Armenia’s overland commercial rout to Russia. It was reopened after three years’ break on March 1, 2010 under the mediation of Swiss Embassy. Around 7,000 people, 50 buses and 500 vehicles cross the checkpoint every day.
