YEREVAN. – The 4-year-old child who was beaten in Khashtarak will be discharged from Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center in Yerevan Thursday; his life and health are no longer in danger, Gevorg Derdzyan, the spokesperson of this hospital, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“The little one and the other five children of the family, who were taken to Muratsan Medical Center in Yerevan with initial acute exogenous poisoning, will be transferred to an orphanage in Yerevan.
And earlier, I had reported that the 6-year-old child, who was beaten in the same family, has died without regaining consciousness. The boy was transferred to Yerevan with injuries incompatible with life," Derdzyan added.
To note, 57-year-old man was detained in Khashtarak village of Armenia’s Tavush Province on suspicion of brutally beating his 6- and 4-year-old grandchildren. And on August 20, his other five grandchildren were transferred to Muratsan Medical Center—and with a preliminary diagnosis of acute exogenous poisoning.
The Investigative Committee of Armenia had informed that the criminal case under investigation into a 57-year-old resident of Khashtarak village causing serious bodily and psychological harm to his underage grandchildren has found out that his 28-year-old daughter also had regularly beaten her five minor children, as well as her brother's two underage sons.
A new criminal case was initiated in connection with this incident, and a decision was made to merge the two criminal cases and continue the investigation under one proceeding.
The seven kids have been recognized as the injured parties.
