YEREVAN. – Armenia will set water cleanliness standards for Lake Sevan in 2021. Deputy Minister of Environment Irina Ghaplanyan said this during the debates on the 2021 draft budget at Friday’s joint meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committees on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs and on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment.

She particularly noted that next year, as before, the cleaning of the shore area of the Lake will continue. "The dismantling of the buildings that were once illegally built near the Lake will also continue," the deputy minister added.

And thanks to all this, as Ghaplanyan mentioned, the roots of trees, bushes, and other organic materials will no longer swamp the water of Lake Sevan, and this will make the water cleaner. "The requirements for water cleanliness in the Lake are already being worked out, which will soon be presented for public discussion," the deputy minister stressed.
