Turkey intends to increase pressure on the new US administration by seeking the extradition of Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said.

"From Turkey's point of view, nothing is changing [in the case of a new US administration]. The communication channels [with them] will again work in the same way. We had a coup attempt. He who organized it is in the United States. There is nothing more natural than asking for [his] extradition [to Turkey]. This process will continue also toward the new leadership of the country [the US]. We [Turkey] will increase the pressure on this issue," Oktay told Kanal 7 television.

Turkish authorities accuse Fethullah Gulen of plotting the coup attempt in July 2016 in Turkey. But Gulen, who now lives in the United States, has condemned this coup attempt and denied the allegations of his involvement.
