YEREVAN. – Suicides have increased during the last period which makes to ponder on their social context, psychologist Karine Nalchajyan told the journalists on Thursday.  

 “Researches revealed that suicides increased in states where unemployment is high. Moreover, not only the poor, but also the rich commit suicides in states with economical depression,” told the psychologist.

Nalchajyan thinks the role of culture is important. Loneliness and religious sects are another reason people commit suicide. Media also promotes suicides. It should be more restraint on commenting suicides. It is not right to showing tragedy of a human and one’s spiritual sufferings.   

“When media comments on suicides, it causes the Werther effect, making it turn into behavior” stated the psychologist
