A group of 8 Canadian-Armenians finished the 72-hour hunger-strike before in front of Turkish Consulate in Toronto, reports Asbarez

The demonstrators protested against violations of human rights by Turkish government, emphasizing the denial of Armenian Genocide, suppression of freedom of speech and press, continuous occupation of Cyprus and oppression of national minorities.

The hunger strike ended with an official demonstration on June 13. The demonstrators sent the newly elected Turkish officials a message stating that Canadians and the international community will not remain silent observers when Turkish government denies its citizens their fundamental rights and campaigns for the denial of the Armenian Genocide.
