Presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia will make a decision on the draft of basic principles for Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution at Kazan meeting next week, said Spokesperson for Russian MFA Alexandre Lukashevich, RIA Novosti reports.

“There are great expectations for the talks in Kazan. In accordance with agreements reached at the upcoming summit, the sides are supposed to consider the set of the so-called basic principles for Karabakh conflict settlement,” Lukashevich said at a briefing on Thursday.

He noted that the wording of the document was agreed at the meeting of Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian FMs in Moscow in April and June.

“The discussion brought the positions closer on certain key issues. The presidents will review the draft documents and will make a final decision,” he said.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Foreign Ministers met in Moscow on June 11.

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan will meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev through the mediation of Russian President Dmitry Medevdev in Kazan on June 25.

Earlier, Presidents of Russia, France and Armenia issued a joint statement on Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of G8 Summit, on May 26.

“We call upon the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan to demonstrate their political will by finalizing the Basic Principles during their upcoming summit in June.  Further delay would only call into question the commitment of the sides to reach an agreement.  Once an agreement has been reached, we stand ready to witness the formal acceptance of these Principles, to assist in the drafting of the peace agreement, and then to support its implementation with our international partners,” they said in the statement
