YEREVAN. - Many people in Armenia suffering from venereal diseases (VD) avoid official registration, as a result, statistical figures practically do not change throughout years, said deputy director of Scientific Medical Center of Dermatology Gurgen Porsugyan to a press conference on Friday.

“Every year we register 30-35 thousand VD infected people, but If you want to get the real number, scale up this figure several times,” said the expert.

According to him, only 30 percent of people who have venereal diseases are officially registered. He also noted that out of 1000 sex worker who undergo medical inspection each year, only 1-2 appear to be infected by VD.

Answering Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent’s question on the pricing  policy, Porsugyan said that treatment of some venereal diseases in the Scientific Medical Center of Dermatology is free, as the state allocates funds for it.
