UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on Israel and Hamas representatives in Gaza to observe the ceasefire. 

He noted that the international community should develop a reconstruction package that will support the Palestinian people and strengthen their institutions, AP reported.

In addition to restoring calm, Israeli and Palestinian leaders have a responsibility to initiate a serious dialogue to address the root causes of the conflict, he said. 

He noted that the UN is ready to work with Israel, the Palestinians, and international and regional partners to resume negotiations on a settlement based on the principle of two states and territorial boundaries before the 1967 war.
