Azerbaijan has no intention to reduce the number of troops in Afghanistan, said country’s Permanent Representative to NATO Khazar Ibrahim.

“As far as I know U.S. troops will stay in Afghanistan. Obama just decided to reduce its contingent by 30,000 in July and Azerbaijan will continue its contribution to the mission,” he said.

The envoy stressed that Azerbaijan’s joining Non-Aligned Movement will not affect its relations with other organizations, including NATO. Azerbaijan-NATO relations are developing in positive direction, he added.

“Azerbaijan is not just a NATO ally, we are closely cooperating,” Ibrahim said.
