Presently no discussions on amendments to Azerbaijan’s Electoral Code are expected to be held with the Council of Europe Venice Commission, stated Chief of the Parliament staff Safa Mirzayev, Trend News reports.

According to him, the election law might be amended in connection with certain procedural issues, for instance, processing of complaints.

Earlier Shahin Aliyev, the Head of Legislation and Legal Examination Department, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, stated the Government incorporated 90% of OSCE and Venice Commission’s recommendations into the Electoral Code.

The Azerbaijani Opposition demands amendments to the Electoral Code, which would provide for the formation of electoral commissions on a parity basis.
