YEREVAN. – Tuesday’s Yerevan court hearing on the criminal case against second President Robert Kocharyan and former deputy prime minister Armen Gevorgyan—who is now an MP of the opposition “Armenia” Faction in the National Assembly of Armenia—has been rescheduled.

Today’s session started with a technical recess. Presiding Judge Anna Danibekyan stated that information was received from Gevorgyan's defense lawyer Lusine Sahakyan that she had attended a court hearing in Kapan city Monday and had not been able to return to Yerevan. Technical problems had arisen on the road back, due to which she cannot be in the courtroom at the beginning of the session. Defense attorney Hayk Alumyan, for his part, informed the court that his client, Robert Kocharyan, was on his way.

During the recess, the second president arrived at the court. Armen Gevorgyan informed that, according to his information, Kocharyan’s car had broken down.

The prosecution stated that since they could not check the respectability for the absence, it would refrain from expressing a position on the matter.

The next court hearing was rescheduled for February 15.
