YEREVAN. – Hraparak newspaper of Armenia writes: Yesterday, at the suggestion of the [parliamentary] opposition, the authorities convened a closed session [in the National Assembly] to discuss the situation in Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)].

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan were invited to the session as "special guests."

The opposition, however, left the session angry and disappointed. Some, believing that they would not hear anything new, left in the middle of the session.

Later, they told us that the authorities did not announce anything clear about the status of Artsakh. They did not say more than they say publicly. They only insinuated that in the talks they are pushing for the matter of Artsakh’s self-determination, but did not promise that they will not to discuss the matter of Artsakh's status as part of Azerbaijan.

In one word, it was a meaningless session, and the authorities did not meet the expectations of the opposition.

However, if they were not to convey any secret, undisclosed information to the MPs, there was no point in holding a closed session at all.
