YEREVAN. - Average wages in Armenia grew in relation to price growth.

The average salary in July 2011 increased by 6.7 percent, as compared with July 2010, whereas prices grew up by 6.3 percent.

For the first time after the crisis of 2009 growth of wages is ahead of price growth, which indicates an increase in living standards.  

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia the average wage in the country as of July is  AMD 120.8 thousand ($ 330) - a record for Armenia. Average wages in the private sector amount to AMD 147 thousand ($ 402), in the public sector - AMD 98 thousand ($ 265).
