UK Ambassador to Armenia John Gallagher on Wednesday hosted a farewell reception for departing Chevening Scholars who have been selected for Master’s degree scholarships at UK universities in 2022-2023. The Ambassador also presented certificates to the seven successful Scholars. He said: “I’m pleased that despite the challenging times the UK Government is supporting future leaders across the world, and especially in Armenia, a nation that attaches great importance to quality education.

The range and relevance of the courses you have chosen is truly impressive. Mental health, IT law, fintech, international law and conflict prevention are all areas where the UK has experience to share.  I am confident that your future work on these issues will enable Armenia to become an even stronger and more successful country.” Chevening Scholarships are the UK Government’s global scholarship program, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and partner organizations. The scholarships support one-year Master's degrees studies at UK universities for individuals with demonstrable potential to become future leaders, decision-makers, and opinion formers.  Since the program was created in 1983, over 50,000 professionals have had the opportunity to develop in the UK through Chevening.

As of today, there are around 180 Chevening alumni in Armenia, among them senior government officials and staff, members of parliament, influential civil society representatives and opinion makers, entrepreneurs, media professionals, staff of international agencies, and businesses.

Applications for 2023/2024 Chevening Scholarships are open until 1 November 2022, with applications to be submitted here. Visit here or the British Embassy pages on Facebook and Twitter for detailed information on the eligibility criteria and scholarship specifications.
