During the 11th Assembly of the World Council of Churches (WCC), the members of the WCC Central Committee—representing 120 countries—elected Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, a cenobite of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, as a Vice-Moderator of the WCC.
The moderator and two vice-moderators of the WCC, together with the latter’s general secretary, head the Central Committee of the CEC, and moderate the sessions of its Central and Executive Committees.
