YEREVAN. - Although we had sharp discussions and clashes of viewpoints throughout the whole period of talks with opposition, the general atmosphere between the sides has always been amicable, said member of Armenian ruling coalition delegating group, MP Gagik Minasyan to a press conference on Monday.

“However, the latest events were alien both to that atmosphere and the logic of negotiations. Our colleagues from ANC made insensible step suspending the process. If formerly ANC’s position was not to mix up issues of legal and political levels, which was totally right, now their expectations from the authorities are quite the opposite of promises they made to the thousands of people gathered in the square. ANC’s logic is not sound here,” said Minasyan adding that the coming days will show whether ANC changes its position on the matter and return to constructive talks. “We either return to constructive talks or witness non constructive developments that are not likely to be ripe with positive solutions.”

Earlier ANC gave the authorities 24 hours to “decide on the status of [ANC activist involved in the conflict with police] Tigran Arakelyan” which already ran out. On Friday ANC suspended participation in the 7th round of government-opposition dialogue. On Friday morning ANC rep. Samvel Abrahamyan came to the meeting, saying ANC delegation considered it inexpedient to come to the meeting. The general opinion is ANC representative group did not show up for the meeting because Tigran Arakelyan is still in confinement.
