STEPANAKERT. – I am in awe of the wisdom of our political figures of 1991, as during the collapse of the Soviet Union they made the most correct decision at the time and declared the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, stated NKR National Assembly Speaker Ashot Ghulyan in an interview with Khachkar monthly. 

“At the current phase, the will of the people of Artsakh is to live as a separate state (...) I do not think that, today, without resolving NKR’s recognition issue we can establish legal grounds for unification with Armenia. I am deeply convinced that, in the future, the two separate parts of this united Armenian homeland will find a very easy and correct solution,” Ghulyan said.
