YEREVAN. – The First Instance Court of Syunik region approved, on Friday, the investigator’s petition to confine the two officers who were arrested as a result of the criminal case launched into the recent death of conscript Aghasi Abrahamyan at Yeghnikner military unit in Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The officers are charged with misfeasance, Armenian MOD press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.   

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, an officer and a conscript were likewise detained within the framework of this case.

Aghasi Abrahamyan, 18, a soldier of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army was taken to military hospital unconscious on August 26, and he died there an hour later.

The soldier’s death caused great stir among the public. All detained officers are charged with misfeasance, whereas the conscript, with violation of the military code. 

Even though Abrahamyan was slain by brutal beating, no one has yet been charged with murder.
