ALAVERDI. – Deputy Mayor of Alaverdi, Republican Party candidate Artavazd Varosyan won the elections for the city Mayor on Sunday, local elective committee secretary Nelson Mamulyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Varosyan polled 3484 votes against 386 votes for his opponent - communist party candidate Kamo Babayan. The general number of the electors was 16,520, while voter turnout made 4,027 ( 24%). No incidents were registered during the elections.

Former Mayor was appointed Governor of Lori region on July 28. Two candidates were running for Mayor.
