As a result of the earthquake in Aleksandrit three members of the Armenian family were killed, the Gandzasar newspaper.

"Last night, the administration of the Aleppo Armenian Physical Education Union mourned with deep sorrow the deaths of members of the Mesropian family who died on Monday, February 6, 2023, in Aleksandrit (Iskenterni-Turkey) as a result of a catastrophic earthquake:  Dshun Mesropian, former chairwoman of the Aleppo Women's Union Council, and her two children, Armik and Mesrop Mesropian, who were union scouts, with Armik also a member of the New Generation cultural movement dance troupe," the Gandzasar newspaper reported.

The death toll of the devastating earthquake exceeded 21,000 and the number of the wounded reached 80,000. Armenia sent a rescue team of 27 people and 100 tons of humanitarian aid to Turkey.
